Developed by Nord Anglia eLearning Ltd (new window), under the auspices of Nord Anglia Education PLC, the Virtual-Workspace is an exciting, one of a kind Government pathfinder PFI (private finance initiative) project.
The initial project was developed for the LEAs of Wolverhampton and Worcestershire, where it is being used by over 21,000 learners and educators from over 60 schools/colleges.
Development teams in the UK combined their expertise to create this dynamic system, and our 20-strong project team set-up all the required management, training and support to launch the Service in the Autumn Term 2004/05. As well as managing the Service and providing ongoing user support and training, we continue to work with the two Local Authorities to develop the Service in response to user-feedback.
As it is a pathfinder project, there is a great opportunity for further UK-wide and international roll-out - during and after the initial project, which expires in July 2011. In September 2005, Chilwell School in Nottinghamshire became the first school outside of Wolverhampton and Worcestershire to join the Service.
